Anurag Kashyap was forthright in a recent discussion during an event in Kolkata. According to a report from Outlook India, Anurag expressed his views on feminist filmmakers, stating that most of them are ‘deceptive.’
What Anurag Kashyap said
During the session, Anurag Kashyap remarked, “Those filmmakers who appear to be feminists, socialists, revolutionaries… Let me tell you, 90% of them are hypocrites. They’re merely putting on a show. After years of attempting to unite various independent filmmakers, I’ve come to the conclusion that independent filmmakers are the least supportive. Instead of working together, they engage in backbiting and name-calling. What sets apart the so-called intellectuals from the so-called fools? The fools stand together, while the ‘intellectuals’ are too preoccupied tearing each other down.”

The director of “Gangs of Wasseypur” also discussed two categories of filmmakers, stating, “I am acquainted with most filmmakers personally, even the most challenging ones. Commercial filmmakers, the minds behind films like KGF and Salaar, fall into two categories. There are those who seize opportunities, and then there are those who openly admit to pursuing success and profit.”
Anurag Kashyap frequently shares his opinions on new film releases on his social media platforms. Recently, he praised Kiran Rao’s “Laapataa Ladies,” saying, “What a sincere, funny, beautiful film @raodyness has made. She communicates so much with such subtlety, and beyond that, experiencing such a heartfelt film, an incredible love story, beautifully narrated with truth bombs delivered so humorously every ten minutes. I cried like a baby… Don’t miss this film, it’s unforgettable.”
Anurag Kashyap premiered his latest film “Kennedy” at the Cannes Film Festival last year. It’s a dark noir drama featuring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone.
